60 years ago... In a time that all fishermen’s names were known in public, even every family has a particular fisherman… In those years, Mr. Hüseyin was among those fishermen, operating in Samsun.

Hüseyin Sagun was an usual fisherman, but his son, Kemal, did not constrain the fishery business with Samsun even with Turkey. As a first step, he moved his business to İstanbul after he took over from his father. Later, in Kumkapı he founded a company called Kemal Fishery. Besides fish he was the first one in Turkey to export frog to France with the demand of French Cuisine. By the request of his French partners saying “fish business is okay, bring us frog”, he searched for the most appropriate frogs and founded in Adana and Trakya (Thrace) region.

Today, the company is managed by Ahmet Tuncay Sagun as Sagun’s 3rd.
generation. After he took over the business from his father, he managed to transform Kemal Balıkçılık into a group company called Group Sagun, now it is consisted of 5 subcompanies. Over the years , Group Sagun has been recognized for turning the small fishery business into an industry in Turkey. The company has been among the exporting seafood leaders and selling its products to many countries; U.S.A. to Japan, Canada to South Korea and China.

Group Sagun was the first one in Turkey to establish Bluefin Tuna farm with its equipment and manpower from abroad. Also, Group Sagun has built the most modern cold storage with 6000 tons of stock capacity by the latest investments.

Now Group Sagun is operating in many areas of seafood business from catching to farming, processing and exporting-importing of seafood products.
